Help 147 Wing Mirrors Broken
I have a 6 years old 147. I went to fold the mirrors into the side of the door in order to put the car in a narrow space. I had not done this for years - I can't remember the last time I did it, but I have definitely done it before a few times with no problem.
I pushed the mirror and "bang", it appears that the mounting inside of the mirror is broken or snapped somehow - I did not use much force - I just thought it was a little bit jammed from not being used for a long time, so I pushed a little harder, but not much, and it now appears that the mirror is only attached by the electric cables to the car.
Stupidly, I have then done exactly the same thing to the other mirror, but I can't believe how little force it took, and that both mirrors had the same problem.
When I look underneath, the mirror, it looks like the pylon type mounting which comes up from the black plastic layer inside the mirror has somehow snapped or broken inside the mirror assembly. It also looks like this mounting is badly corroded inside the mirror assembly.
From looking at it now, it almost looks like that metal pillar is supposed to be a single assembly attaching the mirror to the car, and it has totally snapped, but I can't be sure because of all the corrosion.
Has anyone seen this before - I have seen posts about corrosion on the outside of the mirror mounting, but could not find anything about the inside.
Also any ideas on how complex this will be to fix?
