147 second cat?

Right so a couple of weeks ago my Alfa man fitted my ARB kit to my 147......which btw is incredible!!!

I mentioned to him that my exhaust was rattling and could he investigate.

And investigate he did. When I picked the car up he explained the inside on the second cat was lose and rattling inside. He had phoned to get a price but was told the part didn't exist. After explaining to the parts dealer that it did indeed have 2 cats (he was looking at it whilst talking), it came to light that its only the face lift model that has this second cat.

So my question is, if the pre face lift 147 only has one cat, do I really need to replace the second cat mine? Would getting rid and replacing with a straight pipe mean it would no longer pass an emissions test?

All 147 TS have two (actually THREE) Cats with the exception of the 105hp 1.6 which wasn't sold in the UK.
You'll have two Cats in the front downpipe and the third under the car.

147ts plus bits

My (prefacelift) has one cat (the main on in the middle of the car) as i removed the precats and it only JUST passes the emissions at the MOT station.
