watchdog had a nice episode where they basically advised people that the average aftermarket warranty is worthless (even warrantydirect) yet also perfectly legal.
but then, lets be honest, we knew that already.
valves dont burn very often, and when they do burn it doesnt happen for no reason. fix that reason when you replace the valve or you will suffer the same fate again soon.
personally i doubt a burnt valve was the problem (it never is) so i wouldnt worry about it. nationwide have an agreement that they will always suggest things that are not covered by the warranty, clever eh? i suspect your actual problem was the head gasket, they often hide that with the burnt valve excuse.
replacing a single valve doesnt cost £800. £150 yes, £250 on a very bad day at a posh garage, but £800?! WTF? even at a dealership that would be a disgrace.
