Has the car only just gone like this or have you had any work done to it previously?
Also It might be worth checking the box of relays in front of the battery, as their contacts can corrode. One of them is for ignition services, one for variator, one for fuel pump the other for the aircon. The ignition services one could be the cause of your problem.
It also may be worth removing the coils (under engine cover), and checking that the insulators are not damaged, or that the spark plug holes are not full of oil. Either of these faults could cause miss-fires and back-fires.
Do you know when the plugs were change last? as over 60K miles a set and they can cause bad running.
You will never be cool driving a Vauxhall.
