Newbie V6 owner - advice needed!
I've just become the proud owner of a 156 V6. I've had a 155 and GTV before (plus my husband runs a 145QV), but they were all 2.0-litre twin-sparks, so this is our first time with a V6.
The car had a full service before we bought it including cambelt, drivebelt, plugs etc and it's running really well (love that engine noise!). The only thing that's bothering me is the engine temp...
On a run the needle barely gets above 50, although the heater blows hot. If left to idle the temp does eventually come up to about 90, at which point the fans kick in and keep it under control. Drive off again on a clear road and it soon drops back to the 50-55 mark.
My twin-sparks always ran at about 60 on a run in cool weather, but is this right for a V6? If not, I'm guessing that either the stat's stuck open or the sender is knackered. Any advice welcome.
One other thing, got both keys with the car, but the remote on one is broken. My local Alfa dealer has quoted £130 for a replacement plus £60 for coding...yeah, thanks. Sounds stupidly steep to me - anyone know of any independents that can provide the same service for sensible money?
