Buying a 147 Advice Please

I know there are a few threads like this already and I have taken their info on board, but I do have a question that they don't cover!
Im looking to spend around 6-7 and want a nice 147.
Should I be looking at a 1.9 JTD or a 2L TS? What in particular do people like about the model they would go for, and what do you not like about it if that's your model?

Also - where do people suggest I look? I've been looking in Auto Trader, and also in my local alfa garage, but where else can I look?! My local garage seems quite expensive in comparison to prices I've been reading about on here?

Thanks everyone

p.s. yes I'm new

Thanks Zulu although I have to admit, Im not interested in the selespeed after hearing a lot of bad things about them..

So the question remains - Petrol or Diesel.

But also, another important question... where to buy from! Is it better to buy from an official alfa dealership and get a warranty? Or from an owner and carefully check the car over and hope nothing goes wrong?!

Horses for courses really.

The wife's 1.9 diesel 147 is a peach. Loads of torque and great fun to drive. Yet if the mood's upon you (or more likely, UK traffic) you can get over 60mpg.

The 2.0TS in the GTV is a really entertaining drive too but in a more traditional peakier Alfa way.

With oil breaking the $100 mark today, I think I'd be going for diesel right now if I was in the market.

ps Welcome!

Consider buying privately and use your local Alfa Specialist to get it checked over for an hours labour or so.
