Morning all. Got a 2.0 jts and I'm confused.
I filled the tank yesterday and reset the mileage on the speedo to zero, I also reset the on board computer, the mpg the lot.
Now the mileage on my speedo says one thing and the distance travelled on the computer says another. Probably a 5 mile difference?
Anyone seen this before or have any ideas?
Cheers.
If not a kilometres vs miles issue, possibly two different senders? One reading off the crank and one reading off the ABS system, I would guess, with different values for wheel circumference.
Hmmm, well, if the ABS unit only sends data on revolutions of the wheels, a difference could still occur if the trip computer and the speedo unit have different values for wheel circumference.
If the ABS unit has its own, single value for wheel circumference, then I have no idea.
Right then. Doube checked and the distance traveled on the trip computer was in miles. I switched it to km and it matched what was on the speedo. So the speedo is clocking km. Except it shows on the trip display as being miles and the actual speedo is clocking miles too. Confused.
I suspect the trip is actually showing miles although you have it in km. And so speedo is correct. Easy enough to check either with satnav or ap on phone. Haven't ever managed to work out what causes it to suddenly happen.
have read a number of times on this forum about problems with switch-over between miles and km's on 156 not working correctly
