Hmmm 147 with noisy gearbox! what will help?

Hi All,

My 147 manual has a noisy gearbox. It has done 50 thousand KM's and am tempted to change the viscosity of the gearbox oil.

Will it help?

Thanks in advance.

Will.....

what do you mean by noisey? grinding during gearchange or one or all gears, or noise during driving? i assume you've already checked the gearbox fluid level.

a whine under acceleration only is almost always due to differential. its the classic sign that the hardening on the crown wheel has worn.

considering it only happens under load could it be the thrust bearing?

Re: 147 with noisy gearbox! what will help?

definately not, the thrust bearing (aka release bearing, throwout bearing etc.) is not in contact with anything when you dont have your foot on the clutch pedal. if the noise only occured when pressing the clutch pedal then you would assume it was the thrust bearing.
