Selespeed fault, radio??

Hi all,

Got a great new radio for my B Day, fitted it yesterday morning.
Went for a nice long drive (100km) did some sailing, drove back, then passed an accident on the highway, had to slow down to 2nd gear, was in City mode, pulled off again after the accident, SillySpeed wouldn't get into 3rd, 4th or 5th!
Drove home in second gear, where do I start?
Could I have messed up the radio install? The Speedo lights went out too, might be related? the Head unit has a dimmer cable, but I soldered that to the original harness dimmer cable.
Any ideas?

Hmmm Re: Selespeed fault, radio??

Hi there,
OK, so I took My little terror to a local Alfa Specialist, difficult when one can only drive in 1st and 2nd.
He says I'd managed to scramble the computer!
Apparently when re-connecting the battery one needs to ensure an immediate fit, not allow for any sparking.
He's reset the computer, and done some proxy alignment setting the baud rate to 9600, reckons there are 4 computers that need to be in sync.
Also done a software upgrade!
Will pick it up this evening, give it a test then!

PS, any ideas whether I need to connect both power cables (from old radio) to the new radio.

Cheers
