Re: Life with a 156
I'm having a look at a front grill, it covers the 4 slots on the v groove of the bumper which i have never liked, but apart from that i tend to agree with you, maybe just a set of side repeaters

Re: Life with a 156
Yeah you're right on the side repeater front, theyre subtle and do look good.
I like the V groove just the way it is though, take that away and it subtracts from something that makes an Alfa an Alfa.

Re: Life with a 156
I had small 15 inch wheels on mine so got a set of aftermarket ones! they have grown on me but still not like the 17 inch tele's, lol im on the hunt!
however saying that I have just changed my exhaust and it has transformed the car, in a subtle manor but now has a bit more aggression

Jug, mines the same as yours, I bought a roll of the stuff from Motosave and cut it to size myself, only took 5 minutes and does look much better. I think the ultimate front grille has to be this:

There is another ebay supplier from Germany that gives you strips to stick on without dismantling the grille, that would obviously look naff. With the Irish one you cannot see the strip ends and if you did not know better, you would think it came that way from Alfa Romeo.

Sensingsys, you just need to make sure its cut perfectly. I had a bit of wastage when I'd left gaps, but it is spot on now.

It all sounds a bit Blue Peter to me.

Re: Life with a 156
Well guys, it seems little and subtle is the only way to mod a 156, I'm actually pleased with the new valve caps, I think its the little things that make a difference.
My car allready has 16" teledials ( I think) five circle design which suit the car I can't lower it as it struglles up some of the lanes aroound here anyway, low profiles and big wheels are a no no for the same reason. I qiute fancy tarting up the engine bay, painting or polishing the engine bits, possibly an induction kit for the noise not the "power"
Pud I liked that grille but its not me, plus I'm too tight to pay to have it painted
The red one Ady likes is soooo cool and subtle, I'm surprised when I see some of the junk that Chavs put on the cars that such nice things are available
I can also report a huge difference now I've fitted my MAF the car is so much more together and it may even use a little less fuel, but I'm not sure
See you all soon

Re: Life with a 156
hey ady006, visited Cardigan on Tuesday, and there was another 2 Alfa 156 SW,s. I followed one into town (red) and then another in the oneway system (silver/ no boot badges) before I parked up. It,s quite unusual to see so many in one place!

Re: Life with a 156
Hi Clarky, Its good to see other 156's about, Ive seen acouple of siver SW's in Newtown lately- you haven't been down here ?
No one has returned a wave yet tho, so far I've been blanked by 156's 145's 147's a 155 a 75 (I think) so all you guys that reckon its only the classic Alfas that wave, Your wrong.

Re: Life with a 156
Hi, yep go through Newtown quite often, as for waves, well have had a string of classic mini`s and thats the norm, but noticed with Alfa`s no go, I think that is due partly to none enthusiast type people driving Alfa`s as day to day cars. Especially the newer models, it was probably a trendy choice to go against the normal office german company car, ( Don`t mean everyone thou!!!! I know there are very KEEN new car drivers on this site, after all I am only a newbie) as for Cardigan, yes there was three of us in the town centre at the same time! and it wasn`t a "OH lets follow each other moment" either, completly random! Is there a dealership nearby? We have a recent one near Wrexham and the numbers have grown in that area.

Re: Life with a 156
Clarky, look out for a Cosmos Blue ( nearly Black) 156 and gives us a wave or a headlight flash.
Have you checked out the Alfa wave thread?

Re: Life with a 156
I'm 3 weeks into my Alfa ownership and so far I’ve changed the side repeaters, upgraded the front grill added a new tax disc holder, added my initials in chrome to the back (sad) and washed it and waxed it even when it was raining, We have also been down to Devon and it was the best drive ever.
My old fiat got washed maybe once a month if it was lucky.
