Particulate Filter

Hi

My 159 is fitted with a particulate filter and normally the exhausts are a grey sort of colour. However, after a 130 mile run today I noticed both were black and sooty. There's still no smoke on acceleration, is this just the filter recycling itself or has something gone wrong?

I've asked the dealer but (in true alfa dealer fashion) they don't have the answer.
