Thanks for that. Only read the intro so far, really well explained, can't wait to get some time and get through the rest.

Cheers

Great to see this information. Have been experiencing bunny hopping on take off. Only on hot day 30 degree celcius approx(outside temp).

Have been reading this info and have a few ideas now. Thanks

Re: Selespeed info

Thanks for that - very interesting indeed...

Reading through it, i've noticed that any faults detected are always accompanied by a warning. Mines playing up (sometimes slipping into neutral and not possible to change gear when i come a to standstill etc) but no warnings whatsoever.

I know that the system is registering and displaying faults as i can generate a 'selespeed fault' by keeping the gearstick active for a few seconds...

Anyone heard of selespeed faults that cannot be detected by the gearbox ECU, and hence no warnings?

Yep, mechanical faults in the gearbox.
Low pressure won't log an error either, but it will flash the warning light.

Re: Selespeed info

My 156 Selespeed also kept going into neutral with no warning light. Never have got to the bottom of it - after the examiner was used it highlighted a few dodgy relays, and a recalibration was done after a rod was adjusted.

Problem still occurs, but much less frequent - no warning light. No sign of leaks, pressure is fine after pump was replaced.

Re: Selespeed info

I just saw there is an entry on the Paul Denyer web site for "Manual to City changeover uncommanded" which is the selespeed problem I have encountered on my GT. It's happened about 4 times since I got it 3 months ago and I've only done 1500 miles. It's nearly 3 years old. This never happened on my 147 Selespeed whch I had for 5 years before the GT.

Unfortunately I don't understand the details on the web page. Is this something that is considered normal or OK? What causes it ? Does the car need any adjustment to prevent this happening or is it something you just have to live with and reboot the car when it happens because you can't get it back out of City mode in my experience (or into N or R)?

Any help would be appreciated as the garage don't know what to do with it and they've had it twice now for investigations!!

Thanks

Avie

I dont think you have a problem, this is normal behaviour. It is supposed to automatically change to neutral if the car remains stationary for more than a couple of minutes to save wear & tear on the clutch actuator.
If you are going to be stationary for a while, best to drop it into neutral yourself. That way you know where you are and removes the embarasment of going to pull off and all that happens is you rev the nuts out of the engine

Re: Selespeed info

I'd understand if it drops to neutral after couple of minutes but it changes as soon as i completely stop at traffic or whereever.. it should hold at 1st gear for a minute or even 30 secs but it wouldnt.. it wasnt like this b4.. i didnt need to put into 1st gear at traffic to start.. it would move as soon as i release the brakes.. but now i have to move my arm.. help somebody.. what is wrong with my car?!?!
