Re: Selespeed info

IIRC from my Selespeed days, it drops in to neutral when you open a door so that the car wouldn't budge if you nudged the accelerator as you got in or out. Made it a pain to park in a tight space where you opened the door for a better view. Perhaps there is a problem with a door or bonnet switch giving a false signal to the Selespeed ECU.

Re: Selespeed info

Hi There,

My selespeed warning comes on when I am in 5th gear at low revs, but there appears to be no impact on the driving experience or perforrmance of the car? Any ideas?

Re: Selespeed info

What age/year is your car? You might be able to buy a diagnostic cable and some software if you have a laptop and do some of this yourself.

Re: Selespeed info

I have just had a pipe replaced on my selespeed pump. My question is i assume i will have to bleed the pump if so is it easy? I trained as a mechanic for 2 and a half years so i have a general idea of what i am doing but as the pump is new i cant afford to damage it. Its a 147 2.0 silly speed.

Re: Selespeed info

it comes out of the oil pump on the left hand side. then round under thr inner wing to the side of the accumulator. its the only pipe that has a dog leg finish at the pump end. Clear as mud eh.

Help Re: Selespeed info

HI i also have had problems with my 156 selespeed, it kept dropping
out off gear and into neutral. I had it tested(they said they did a
dign., test on the gearbox) and the problem was the actuator was only traveling a few mm instead of cm.,that it was dangerous and I
should'nt drive, test cost £100?? Has anybody had similar fault and can they recommend somewhere near Southampton for a reliable
repair.??? Thanks Stew:

Re: Selespeed info

Examiner is a peice of software used by the Alfa garage to get all the error codes and diagnostic info out of your car. Its the tool which is used to interface with the car's computer.

Someone has written their own version called Alfadiag which lets you do some of the things the full version of Examiner can do at a garage.

Re: Selespeed info

i have a question regarding selespeed.

if i switch off "city" mode and go into "manual", do i need to press the brake or let go of the accelerator when i change gears? or can i just keep the accelerator where it is and simply shift up?

You will learn with practice that it can be a little smoother with a light liftoff though.

You can change at any time. Its an electronic switch over, nothing mechanical
