More bad luck - oil leak around alternator!

Cleaned it up last week, loads of oil on drive, and around the belts - obviously, not something I can leave.

Alternator in the middle, oil filter to the right - the oil is on the left of the alternator by the belts, the opposite side of the oil filter.

If this a known area with a quick and cheap fix, or, are we talking removing the guts of the engine as this is obviously way too low to be something as easy as a rocker cover gasket.... Ie, is there some sort of gasket by the alternator / oil filter area?

How much bad luck can an Alfa owner get eh?

Re: More bad luck - oil leak around alternator!

So the oil is leaking over the alternator, which is at the back of the engine.

Do you know how much oil you have lost?
(ie: how low is it on the dipstick)

Could easily be from the camcover gasket if an old one was reused after a belt change.
Another possible is a camshaft oil seal, again it should be replaced during a belt change.
Could also possibly be leaking from the variator solenoid.

Edit: another thought, are you sure it is oil?
Could it be powersteering fluid?

That was my first thought as it happened to someone else recently.
