Re: 156 Selespeed drops into Neutral

It may be worth PM'ing Marko, he is in your area and may know someone that does have an Examiner.

Re: 156 Selespeed drops into Neutral

The calibration on my Sele at the dealer in Northampton was about £35-40 plus VAT from memory. The examiner is the only way to calibrate the gearbox and should be done after any fettling etc. It is possible to calibrate the clutch release by using a voltmeter, but this is not at all as accurate or quick (hence cheap) as going to a dealer to do it. The selespeed transmission should be given a once over by someone in the know each year to re-calibrate for wear in the clutch plate at least.

Re: 156 Selespeed drops into Neutral

just to keep eveyone informed whos interested
the cars today been into main dealer(benfield) who put it on the examiner and it was fixed for 5 minutes the mechanic then took it up the road and it was doing the same thing stalling when you pull up then not being able to find a gear
plug it back in to the examiner and done it all again outcome exactly the same so theyve decided that its a full clutch for a grand plus fitting or the actuator but they have to strip it down first to see,the upshot is the cars not worth havin that sort of money spent on it with 130000 miles its a shame cos i love the car and the way it drives but unfortunatly it will be getting px ed for something that doesnt cost an arm and a leg to repair
thanks to everyone for your help over the last couple of months
stephen

keep the shiny side up !!

Re: 156 Selespeed drops into Neutral

Do they really want a grand for replacing the clutch?? I'm not sure how much it should cost, but that doesn't sound right.

Get yourself to an independant. The parts price probably won't be much different, but the labour costs will be half at least

Either you have got confused or they are seriously taking the p155...!

A new actuator is about £1000 plus fitting.
A new clutch is at most £200 or £85 exchange at main dealer prices, plus about 7-hours labour to fit.

Re: 156 Selespeed drops into Neutral

1060 without labour for the clutch !!! they didnt put the acuator on the bill they said they,ll have to strip it down first to see what the problem is, either way i cant afford for them to strip it down and then tell me that it needs 2 grand spending on it its not worth it
thanks stephen
