Outside Temperature Display

Nothing happens when I press the button on the dashboard - it continuously displays the trip mileage. If I press and hold, the trip mileage resets.

Any ideas why it's not working?

Sorry, not really sure what you mean by this? Did you try the button on your indicator that controlls the computer? What model is this car?

Re: Outside Temperature Display

Sorry, it's a 2001 156 Sportwagon 2.0 Veloce Selespeed.

There is a button on the dashboard, that according to the manual, you press briefly to display the outside temp and hold for a few seconds to reset the trip.

Resetting the trip works fine, but the outside temp does not.

Again, according to the manual that function is only available on cars with Climate Control - which I assume mine has

Re: Outside Temperature Display

Yes you should get the outside temp up on the display when you press it once.

I assume the switch has some electronics combined with it so maybe this is faulty

Re: Outside Temperature Display

maybe it's the temp sensor, if the display doesn't receive a signal it will have nothing to display. You haven't had a wing mirror replaced have you? The sensor is in a small protuberance on the underside of the wing mirror (passenger side I think)

Re: Outside Temperature Display

Slammed the passenger door t'other day and the temp went to -9 degC "Warning Ice on Road" must be Italian ice as it was at least 14 deg! Reading was OK when I restarted her.
