Re: Retrofit Cruise control - the definative guide

If your car has a facelift dash and has the ASR switch by the gear lever then it should be compatible - if you want to be 100% certain then remove the lower steering column cover and check for the white plug.

AHhARrrr.

I will be picking up the parts from Alfa Tomorrow morning, and if it's not raining they will be fitted (Hopefully) 1 hour later.

Obviously I have to allow for time to get home and get the kettle on as it's imperative that before you start any jobs you have a Cup of Tea to study the Leaves, No No No No No I meant to say instruction before getting out the tool box and giving it some.

P.S My Alfa Dealer is also a 45 Min Drive from my house, so you can guess how hard I expect the job to be.

Updates Tomorrow with pictures (Possibly)

Re: Retrofit Cruise control - the definative guide

Well it’s done,

I got home at 10:50 this morning and got stuck in straight away, by 11:30 I was back in the house having a Cup of Tea and relishing in my handy work.

This time also includes getting out my tool box, working on it, taking pictures and test driving to make sure it worked.

This has to be one of the easiest and cheapest conversions in the world. I have taken a number of pictures and I will talk you through it step by step.
This is a picture of the parts I ordered. Number provided in earlier thread.
Attachment 34633

Step 1.
Unscrew the 3 self tapers under the lower steering wheel console that are highlighted. (Picture 2)

Step 2.
Gently prise down the lower column and untuck from around the ignition key area, then place in the garage as you no longer need it. (Picture 3)

Step 3.
Look for the White plug that is tucked up in the bundle of wires, then untuck and make available to connect. (Picture 4 & 5)

Step 4.
Unscrew the small self taper that is highlighter on the lower of the indicator stalk. Tip, Turn the steering wheel so that the large space above the airbag is all on the left hand side, this helps to get the screwdriver in. (Picture 5)

Size: 31.9 KB

Step 6.
Clip on the Cruise Control Stalk to the small fixing bracket and then screw the self taper back in place, then connect the 2 plugs together. (Picture 6)

The finished artical is on the next thread as i have used my limit on this one.

Hi

Unfortunately I don’t think so, as far as I am aware it will only work if you have the 2002> spec interior.

The same as mine pictured, I believe they only fitted cruise in to the GTA on the 98 - 02 cars so the wiring will not be there on your car. (I Think)

Cruse-control only arrived for the 156 in 2002, which is also when the GTA was released.

It will not fit a pre-2002 156.
