Retrofit Cruise control - the definative guide

The plastic clips go front and rear of the steering column and when snapped on get secured by self tappers.

If it doesnt fit (unlikely) someone on here or Ebay will bite your hand off.

I live here in Ireland and have taken the bold steps of getting my father to order the parts for my 156 03 Lusso. I checked to see if the plug was there and, as described in this forum, it was.

The only thing would like to know is about the dash board lights. I have the centre info screen on top of the dash but I can't see on either of the dials where the light is that tells you cruise is engaged.

Would the cruise be shown on the info screen or via a light I can't see on the dials?

Maybe I'll just have to wait to get my parts and see for myself but I'm really excited about getitng criuse control.

The parts were ordered for just £78!!!!

I asked the same question Toshlad and was told that the green warning light between the speedo & revcounter is already there and will work. I'm ordering mine as soon as I can drive again

EDIT:- Parts ordered this afternoon from Guests in Knowle. Should be in on Tuesday. I paid £64 all in due to some AROC discount

You might need some small self tappers, but it 'snaps' around the main stalk unit, the screws just lock it in place.

There is 1 that goes round the back that I can never get in, but its solid enough without it.

A quick tip is to coat the inside edge of the column shroud cut out the stalks sit in, as the indicators rubber gaitor tends to get stuck and pucker up now and then - stopping self cancelling - as it no longer has as much room to move.

The existing front screw is all you need, the back one is just too tricky to get at but with the clip and one screw it is rock solid

Just thought I'd add my little 2 cent worth, I bought stalk and lower cowel from an ***** dealer in the UK (here in Ireland they just wanted too much for it).

The parts arrived and I couldn't wait to fit them.

Removed the existing lower steering cowel - easy
Plugged in new CC stalk - easy
Screwed in front screw - easy
Replaced new lower steering cowel - easy

Switched on ignition, then switched it off. Switched it back on and tested, it all works fine!!!

The entire time from removing the first screw to testing was no more than 10 minutes. If you go to your ***** dealer they will charge an arm and a leg for something that takes 10 minutes and I would have been happy to let my 14 year old do.

If you haven't done it, what are you waiting for, it works and it's cheap and it sooooo easy.

Fitted & working. On confusing thing was the the conector on the stalk came with a pret fitted & drilled L shaped bracket. What does that screw to????

had an eye on this thread a month ago and while seeking a pic on my mobile minutes before i found these pics when i took off the cover to check what was inside

any clues how can i fit one? its a 2002 veloce.
i can see a white piece or two there havent got a clue though whats with them..

I've circled what I think is the white cruise plug on your pic - that is usually where they are tucked away.

The second pic shows what the connector looks like - this is connected to the cruise switch plug.

lol looks like its the side i didnt took pictures
tomorrow if i got time ill take a look again and post the other side as well. so that little white connector has to be unplugged [thats why i dont have CC] and then there has to be a lose wire [apparently the one i have to plug in?] any other components i shall look for? on the clutch pedal and anywhere else?

I'm fairly certain the connector is tucked just behind the dash where I've circled - just up and feft of the steering wheel adjuster handle. It wont be connected to anything - you need to plug it into the cruise control switch.

The second pic shows it after I pulled it out and plugged it into the cruise switch lead.

A lower shroud for the steering column with the necessary cut out, I have bought these in the past but they arent that much better than a fretsaw and file job!

Hi All,

I have also been watching this thread for a few days now and waiting for some time to have a go at removing the panels and looking for the White connector & sensor switches.

Well today I can only tell you all to just have a go. I decided to order the parts as per the numbers provided in this thread and for your info again they are:

Cruise Control Stalk: 156047955 = £55.32
Steering Column Cowl: 156034454 = £9.18

I did this on a whim and without checking my car was compatible, numpty I know but I do this sort of thing once in a while.
However when I got home at 17:30 in the cold and dark I decided to have a look and see if my Whim was justified. As I used a little torch I removed the 3 self tapers that hold the lower cowl on and then removed the panel. And low and behold the WHITE Plug was staring me in the face, right in front of my eyes.
I did not even have to untuck it from the dash. Whilst I had this cover of I shone the torch through the dash under the steering column and I could see that each pedal had the required coloured sensor attached, it took me less then10 mins in total to remove, observe and re-fit.

So Friday my parts will arrive at the dealers and by first light Saturday morning I will have it fitted and tested. I will update you on its progress if you wish and if you would like some picture let me know before Friday and I will take then as I fit the unit.

Also on the picture above, my white plug looks just like to one you have pictured but yours is connected to someting

I have just read your thread again and as I now understand the first picture is from n3xus-c3 car and the second picture is from craigm’s car?

That’s hopefully what mine will look like on Saturday morning.
