Cheers mate.

Don’t forget to let us know after the fitment if it was straight fit in your case or if you had any problems.

Re: Retrofit Cruise control - the definative guide

Right I bought the cruise stalk and lower column shroud for my facelift 156 and fitted it last night.......It doesnt work !

I know CJ has retro-fitted it to his 147 and by just plugging it in got it to work.

http://forum.alfa156.net/forum/forum...cruise+control

Just wondering if eper will show all cruise components ?

Re: Retrofit Cruise control - the definative guide

What did you do to get it working and is your car the interior facelift or is it the full exterior facelift

Re: Retrofit Cruise control - the definative guide

Apparently cant be done on pre interior facelift 156's as the wiring etc isnt there.
Themole...my car is full exterior facelift 54 plate.

Re: Retrofit Cruise control - the definative guide

I've just bought a 2003 156 TS Lusso.

I have no idea what is pre or post face lift, can anyone tell me if my car will have the wiring that will allow me to fit my own cruise control?

I do have the info centre on my dash and the climate control with the red led displays in them.

Thanks in advance

Re: Retrofit Cruise control - the definative guide

Toshlad - it should work on your car.

Take the lower cover off the steering column and look on the left hand side for a white plug with nothing connected - thats the cruise connection.

Re: Retrofit Cruise control - the definative guide

Had a chat with an Alfa dealer today and he assured me that it would not be possible.
However I went outside and unscrewed the cowling and found a white connector that isn’t attached to anything. Would this be the connector that I would connect the stalk to? Where would you get a working stalk from without paying Alfa £200 for the three stalk set?

Re: Retrofit Cruise control - the definative guide

Order the actual part numbers for the individual part (posted earlier in this thread). Dealer said the same to me - but he was wrong.

Re: Retrofit Cruise control - the definative guide

i have an odd car, 156 Turismo registered june 02
interior facelift but i have only seen 03/53 with face lift interiors bar my old car.
it has momo leather interior but manual windows in the back!
its on the edge of not being able to do it.

If I have the guts i might have a look under my wheel for this wiring.

Re: Retrofit Cruise control - the definative guide

No auto lights on 147's I'm afraid, mine has auto wipers and auto demist though - the mirror looks like a Xmas tree!

Good luck with the stalk - it usually works, if not the clutch switch is usually the fault

Re: Retrofit Cruise control - the definative guide

Ordered mine today for our 2003 interior facelift 156 2.4 jtd veloce. Should be here next Wed. Fingers crossed!!!

Update - arrived on alloted day from mangoletsi and was 'plug 'n' play' stuff of dreams! Worked without a hitch. Note that the management system does not recognise it the first time you crank ignition, but second time, there it is, cruise control in business :-)
I used a coping saw to create a suitable notch in the lower steering wheel cover.

Re: Retrofit Cruise control - the definative guide

Once fitted, and you have turned the ignition on and off, it all works perfectly on next start-up including the display light
There is already one screw on the column and I used that to hold the cruise control stalk in place on it's own. It is solid (and just as well because the other screw hole looks like a b@tch to access).
