key wont work

press the button on key to open doors and button goes in but does not come out again! oh, and it doesnt open the door either. (boot opener still works).

So... I put a battery in my spare key, this too opens the boot but not the doors.

Any ideas where I can get this sorted, or is it back to a main dealer robdog???

Re: key wont work

Do you have a black flip key.

If the button stays in and doesn't spring out then it sounds like the microswitch is broken.

Go over to alfa156.net and look for the tips section. You'll find a flip key guide that I wrote......you'll need to open the key and change a microswitch.

Re: key wont work

Unfortunately soldering a new microswitch on isn't easy.

The alternative is to buy a new key but it usually costs about £50 plus just to get the ECU to recognise the new code so repairing the old key is quite a cost saving.....a new key itself may cost about £50 but you can sometimes get them on eBay but you'd need to take the chance that they work.
