Does the "Code" light go out.
Also, try resetting the fuel cutout switch (pushbutton under the passenger seat)

If it is a warm start problem ... could be the crank sensor.

Re: 156 2.0 Ts

it was a w reg. Cam belt has been put on but one of the cylinders is gone. Drivable but not at great extent. Am just gonna put it on ebay as it is.. Cost is too high to repair!

Worse case scenario - to repair - about £1000 at a specialist (£1500 dealer). Once fixed sell for about £3000.

Sell as is - £1000 if you are lucky.

You lose - £1000.

The figures are open to dispute but you still stand more chance getting it fixed.

Paul
btw - driving it in it's current state is liable to cause more damage.

Re: 156 2.0 Ts

Yeah, id rather sell it as it is then pay and get it fixed and sell it for a bit more money. Either way still lose out on £1000 to £1500, fixed or in its current state. Am going to get it back from the garage and sell it on Ebay.

Re: 156 2.0 Ts

£300!!! You should be pleased. I paid a grand more than that. Who are they and where????

Problem might be they doesn't know what the full extent of the damage yet or does that price include a set of valves, possible valve guides (I busted two), gaskets, coolant, oil/filter, all belts and tensioners (and I would suggest a new variator!). My belt when when tried to start and it bent seven valves and cracked one guide. The other guide was broken trying to remove a valve that was jammed in as it was so bent.

They could be trying to give you a complete 2nd hand head I guess.

Seems very cheap ... I'm not sure the parts costs much less than that and possibly more (defo with new variator!). Check and double check that is a quote and not just an estimate!

cheers, Gary

this is the guys link http://www.motor-mech.co.uk
He is based in Birmingham and only specialises in Alfas, Fiats and Ferraris. I explained everything to him, thats the most he said it shall cost. £300 is good. He is going to look at it on 22nd June. Will let you guys know what the outcome is.

Got my Alfa Back. 2 Valves Repaired. It Drives alot better and is alot quieter then before.. i am going to keep this.

This garage i found, specialist in italian cares is great. And only cost me £300. Not £1500 as i was quoted by actual dealers.
