Re: Alfa 156 Workshop manual

How up to date is it??

Just wondering as if it doesn't cover the most recent ones I am not going to spend ages downloading!!! ( ancient rural telephone exchange)

Thanks for posting it anyway, as it is the thing every 156 owner really wants for christmas (in the vain hope that if you have it, you won't ever need it)

Re: Alfa 156 Workshop manual

Runs fine
Its easy to follow and read in a logical and sequential order, usually with diagrams.

A: Jack up car
B:
.
.
.
.
.
F: Remove engine
.
.
.
.
.
.
R: Remove Gearbox
.
.
.
.
.
X. Replace parts as per F and R
Y. Your cigarette lighter fuse has been replaced

The differentiates between pre and post 2000/2001

I have read on other forums that elearn is a better manual to possess, but this may just be personal preference.

Re: Alfa 156 Workshop manual

I used Nero to burn a CD and then ran install file 'DTESETUP.EXE' from the CD and click on 'Install'. This installed the program that accesses the CD data. After installation run DTESETUP.EXE each time to open the manual. Instead of clicking 'Install' click on 'Run'.

I have had a bit of a look around but I am not sure of all the functions in the program. But I found out how to do a couple of things that I had been looking for.

loads of people slate elearn on this forum, personally i find it excellent and i think the complaints are due to user error.

DTE Setup is the OLD version and not that great to install use. It's been known to be a pain with XP so I dread to think what installing it on Vista will throw up!

eLearn is a better version if only because it is more like a website ... still has gaps, but then so did DTE. DTE also doesn''t cover the diesels or GTA.

It's a CD image file. So you have 3 options:

-Burn it to a CD.
-Mount it on a virtual CD drive (Virtual CloneDrive can do this)
-Extract it with a decent archive manager (WinRAR I think can).
