GT - mud flaps or not?

Ordered GT, need to finalise some details today.

A quick question about the mudflaps - sales guy says car doesn't need them as they can get ripped off because they are so low to the ground!!??!!

From some photos they do look a bit funny.

Have people got the mudflaps on their cars?

Yep! I've got them. My car has the 18" wheels and I was warned that the stones, etc. thrown up would cause the paintwork on the sills to suffer. I've a few pics posted here:

Re: GT - mud flaps or not?

If you don't want to compromise on the aesthetics of the car there is some invisible coating you can put on the paintwork which protects them - can't remember the details offhand.

..so quite a useless mail really, but maybe some other kind soul could point out the details if they know offhand.

I think there normally are some ads for this sort of stuff in the back of car magazines.

Cheers,
TB

Re: GT - mud flaps or not?

Not sure if those mudflaps will stop the front of the rear arches from recieving damage as that'll happen when stones etc get kicked up under cornering. The GT does need some form of protection though as I can see some pitting on my arches after only 17k, though don't know if I want to put that sticky stuff on it never looks that good, my friend has it on his elise and it looks rubbish.

I'll probably look at extra paint/laquer protection when I tidy up the car after a year of b-road blasting, first birthday soon, so it could do with a treat
