Re: Cheap "brembos"

I don't get it - what so funny about that?

What's the difference between buying these, and spray-painting your own brake calipers (which I am pretty sure I remember a couple of people on this forum doing)?

I would be more concerned about the source of these calipers and ensurnig they are up to spec (or pukka Alfa units) - brakes are not the component to take chances on.

True GC, but painting them is one thing and making them look like big red brembos off a GTA are a little severe IMO. I would paint them maybe, but not buy a red plastic cover.

Re: Cheap "brembos"

Sadly, this kind of thing is really popular in Japan too - guys putting "M3" badges and aero kits on their 318s (saw an "M525" badge the other day!), "E55" badges and wheels on their bottom-of-the-barrel Benzs, etc. Funny thing is the phonies are always very easy to spot - have no idea who they think they are fooling except themselves...

Re: Cheap "brembos"

It's like buying fake Burberry. Now when I see someone holding/wearing Burberry the first question that pops into my mind is- 'is it real?' I don't want those type of questions popping into my mind when looking at Alfa's

I don't like labels (I don't own any shirts where a logo for the company appears), and in fact often do the opposite - with both of my Impreza Stis and my M3, I removed the badging - though I did leave the GTA badge on my Alfa, at least for now...

Re: Cheap "brembos"

the same blokes buy fake Rolexes or Cartiers...
but if it makes them feel better.... who cares !

p.s. one thing that makes me cringe is an M3 badge on a 316 with drum brakes on the rear

As an ex-M3 owner, I can clearly say that it makes me cringe as well. Stranger still, is the guy driving a 540 M-Sport an expensive, beautiful sports car in its own right, with a big "M" emblem next to (or in place of) the 540 logo... The 316 owner can be seen as trying to make his car look more exxpensive, whereas the 540 owner is simply displaying his ignorance, making an expensive sports car look ridiculous...

Re: Cheap "brembos"

Ha ha ha ha . Well that made my day folks.
Can we have some more funnies like this?

Love to see what happens to these after a few heavy sessions on the brake pedal........

A Wannabe ,thats whats so sad about these.Fooling(or trying to anyway) people into thinking that you have Brembo 4 pot calipers on your Alfa 147/156 is sad .Its also very cheap and silly too.

If you want Brembos on your Alfa then buy the real things and dont be a wannabe.Theres no substitute for the real thing .

I know a person from another "Alfa Romeo" website who just bought a set of these crappy plastic brake covers and has warned all others not to buy them. That they are crap and stupid looking on his car.He said they aint worth the money and dont fit perfectly either. His words and not mine.

I have painted the standard calipers on my GTV. Why? - because I think red looks nice.

Do I want people to think they are Brembo's? What? - couldn't give a stuff any more than I care about "Designer" clothes. Everything is "Designed" by someone.
