Crosswagon front suspension

Hi all,

i have shock absorber failure on my '05 Crosswagon and alfa says they are not available anymore! Or at least delivery time is awfully long....

Does anyone of you know if shocks from "standard height" 156 will fit?? they are with a different number but if dimensions are the same and i would buy a set with adjustable stiffness i think it would work fine.

thanks in advance.

Later Crosswagons used the Sportwagon Q4 front dampers, p/n 50705574.
Can you get those any quicker?

No proper solution found yet, i bought a set of Q4 dampers. They do fit but front end is a LOT lower than it used to be

about 30mm lower...

Pity. I am able to buy new shock absorbers, but the price is too high(about 200 euro per piece without wicks, rings and springs).

Are you 100% sure they were Q4 dampers and did you use your original Crosswagon springs?

On the EPER SW Q4 has shock absorber prod. code 50705574, but CW Q4 50704478. And SW should be lower.

How old is the ePER you are looking at?

I am looking at FIAT ePER :: The FIAT Forum Maybe it too old, but official FIAT dealer(in Slovakia) confirmed these codes.

ok, there is a note in later ePER though next to the Q4 part:
"10932 - EXTENDED USE OF SHOCK ABSORBERS STREET VERSION ON CROSSWAGON VERSION (DAT 15/02/2006) "

If the spring seat height is the same on both, then the ride height should stay the same.

David C, thank you for info.
Tamariini, can you compare seat height of SW Q4 dampers and original CW dampers?

Yes, that's what they told me at the dealer.

Seat height on crosswagon compared to SW Q4 seems to go something like this:
http://www.alfabbs.fi/download/file.php?id=4417

Q4 SW
X: 22cm
Y: 47,5cm

crosswagon
X: 25cm
Y: 52cm

Measured with basic measuring tape so measurements are not very accurate...

OK, at least that confirms that the spring seats are lower on the Q4 dampers.
