Re: rear washer jet

i had the same problem a few months back. It was an easy fix, but does mean taking the plastic cover off the inside of the boot lid. The connecting pipe for the water had slipped off. Only took 10mins and job done.
Good luck

Yep, I'd put money on Lakey being right.
So don't use the stalk until you fix it, coz it's piddling soapy water into your boot

Re: rear washer jet

Its fixed.

10mins taking the plastic cover off
30mins fixing my mag-lite (batterys turned to pulp inside!)
1min to realise that theres nothing wrong with the connection

even less time to see that the pipe was squashed under the bonnet and would of taken be all of 20secs to fix.

But hey, at least i can see the coppers following me now!

Re: rear washer jet

Hi all

Looks like I'll need to take the plastic cover off the inside of the boot, as there is water leaking into the boot through the locking mechanism when I use the jet.

From reading the above, it seems like a fairly straightforward job-any reason why I shouldn't attempt it myself (i.e. can I mess it up)?

Cheers.

Re: rear washer jet

Well I tried doing this and couldn't get the cover off without the plastic starting to crack-I had taken out all visible screws (4), so decided to leave it-unless someone can tell me if there is a 'knack' to doing this ?

Crazed Re: rear washer jet

Hi there!

First post for me, so quick introduction then. Recently (4 weeks) proud owner of a 2003 147 1.6. Variator change at 24000 Miles (!) and replaced handbrake cable. Otherwise lovely motor.

Anyway..to the point.. My rear washer is filling the boot also

I've removed 4 screws on the boot lid trim, and also 2 or 4 pop plugs. However it's still really tight and I can't see how to remove it. There's a top section of plastic housing the brake light but I don't think it's necessary to remove that (?)

There are two "handles" which fit about 4 fingers in near the bottom of the lid which seem to wedge into the metal section. I've spent far too long inflicting various amounts of pain on me and the lid trying to remove it..

Anybody help please??

Re: rear washer jet

There are at least two of the push fit plastic connectors in towards the middle of the panel you're trying to release, they are a b*gger to see and reach, I used a weed remover taped up to prevent scratches (basically a long shaft with a little V on the end) to lever them out. You then pull the 'handles' away from the metal and the panel then just drops away from the upper edge, I can't remember exactly how many of the connectors there are and as I'm at work I can't access my Eper and I'm off on hols tonight so won't have time to check at home. Get someone to hold a torch while you have a look and you should spot them.

Re: rear washer jet

Thanks for advice Fitzer

I've cracked it..Literally unfortunately, but you were right about the difficult to find plugs higher up. In fact I just couldn't find them and two remained stuck.

..So if anyone's got a spare boot trim for sale...?!

Anyway the washer feed pipe had come loose from the sprayjet and there was no obvious explanation (i.e snagging of the pipe). It doesn't appear to fit "positively" say, with a click so when I refit it I will use a tiny dot of superglue as a precaution.

Re: rear washer jet

I've given up trying - all visible "screws" removed and I have managed to prise apart all the obvious nasty plastic connectors around the edge of the trim - which has split in at least three places. STILL the bloody thing remains attached - just what do you do?

Paul.

Re: rear washer jet

Paul, mine split in three places also and so have been planning to buy a replacement (hardly the ideal resolution but hey)

Anyway for those of us unlucky enough to have cracked the plastic covering in the boot lid on the 147, for a replacement lower section I was quoted £28 at ANCASTER, Welling.

The upper section doesn't need to be removed for this job.

Not quite as scary a price as I thought it might be..
