Hi hoping for some help to adjust the clutch on 156 2003 1.8TS as it is biting quite high, also 1st gear set off from lights stutters and has a lack of power.
Any advise in the following details would be much appreciated.
Also is anyone vise by in warrington area with sofa dish ad I think I Ned to clear the ecu, throttle.
My breaks don't feel good at the mo either quite bad at the end of breaking have to press much more than I thought I needed too I can slam the breaks but not very good response could this be related.
I have a GT which I believe has similar clutch/Flywheel. Mine was slipping and felt very heavy. I bit the bullet and changed it. The hole it burnt in my pocket was considerably more than £450 though. If your car has the dual mass flywheel the specialist you take it to will strongly recommend changing that at the same time. All in all mine came to £156 for clutch, £364 for dual mass flywheel (ouch), and £30 for slave cylinder and then labour came to £250 (about 8hrs) plus vat on top. I did take the opportunity to slip the Q2 in which made me slightly happier.
I had read that just changing either master or slave can stave off need to replace clutch but that failure of those parts is related to a failing clutch and will shorten the new parts life. Could be worth a shot if it puts off the biggy for a while.
Just checked your car is 1.8TS and mine is JTD so may have different Flywheel, hope so for your sake.

That's a load of rollocks, if a clutch on a solid flywheel is snatching with a high biting point then either the driveshaft bolts are loose, the friction plate is shot or there is an internal gearbox problem.
OMG i just read what my phone corrected the text to read, I am surprised you understood it mate.
Thank you for your kind offer which i will gladly take you up on, just name the time and place and i will be there. please PM me.
Many Many Thanks, she is a new purchase and needs some TLC in the mechanical dept, as she was unused for over a year by the previous owner.
Just one more question regarding the hydraulics, I notice that the trip computer sometimes reads brake fluid low or hand brake on, i checked the brake fluid and its all fine, could this be related to clutch brakes etc....Cuz I am hoping i dont need to change the clutch.
The 1.8 doesn't have a dual mass flywheel! Also changing the slave cylinder on the TS engines invloves removing the gearbox as its built into the release bearing assembly.
Get him to send me the results, I'd recommend you do a gearbox oil change and check the mag plug for debris. And make sure the engine mounts are tight.
checked rods car out and found clutch is strong ,bite of clutch normal
his brakes are quite strong and pull up evenly ,remember car been standing for a while
i suggested to him to take car for belt change including aux belts etc,aux belt noisey, variator is quite but advised him replace with water pump ,dont want them failing in 5k do you
few fault codes but i suspect these are old ones since alternator /battery change but have been logged and erased so he can get them checked out, when belts are done etc
blower not very strong so i assumed pollen filter should sort that out
performance of car not very strong and disconnected maf and no difference
checked lambdas on fiatscan and going by graph i believe he has a cat problem ie plugged.... sensors are switching rear diagnosing sensor is following the oscillations of the front sensors, the sensor is good but i believe catalytic converter has failed, but this diagnosis needs to be confirmed
ps....nice body work and clean interior on face lift int car

With all lambda sensors switching correctly, I don't think it would be possible to tell which cat is blocked - but probably the one under the car, as that would be the one to sustain impact damage from hitting something, then matrix breaks up, blocks flow, overheats/melts
Anyway it IS good news that the clutch doesn't need changing, original poster should count himself lucky
Beautiful colour by the way, wish my 156 was something distinctive like that, rather than silver
