No need to remove the door cards. Just prise off the plastic covers; careful not to damage the paint, the covers are held on by two press fittings and come off fairly easily to access the bolts (10mm socket I believe) that hold on the mirrors; the wiring has an electrical connector that you need to ease apart. Remove all rubber gaskets carefully otherwise you will get a leak on re-assembly.
I used Hammerite Satin Black; the finish is exactly the same as original. One of my mounts was in a bad way so I had to remove most of the flaking paint using wet and dry back to the alloy. Hammerite needs a special primer for bare alloy; this needs to be rubbed down and it pays to paint all of the mounts as the Satin Black can react with the original finish. A better job would have been to get the mounts shot blasted using a low abrasive agent or a chemical stripper.
Make sure the gasket is clean as it sits in the mount on re-assembly and job done, good as new and a lot cheaper than the £50 Autolusso want for their powder coated mounts!
Thanks only got reply email notification at 4am! I will go for a respray. Paint type was another query so thanks again.
Not heard of autolusso before. Might come in handy. Dare I say they may have a facelift version steering wheel where the audio control buttons are not warn off after a year...
They also do the Koni FSD and Eibach Pro Kit I heard about this but thought it was a London firm. Not really happy with 04 Veloce suspension on my 17" multi-spokes I made Alfa supply when bought car (it was a deal breaker so they swapped them off a GTA as the 15" multispokes look noody). Plus my rear suspension has squeaked when cold for two years (and two Alfa services).
It's often repeated on the forum but the FSD / Eibach set up is perfect for normal road use. When I got mine fitted even the Mother in Law noticed the difference without being asked. The Eibach ARB is the icing on the cake, but is expensive.
