I might just try and take the holder off, and then stick it in plate temporarily just to see what it looks like. Or as has been done. Fix it on a bit better.
Four screws directly into the bumber, small dampers (don't know how you call it, those things you glue under the legs of e.g. a table) on the back so its not rubbing on the surface.
After getting to the DVLA this afternoon and getting my private plate allocated to my new toy (It must be here for a while!!!), I am hoping to remove the plate surround and stick my plate direct to the bumper (It only has 5 characters, so it is cut-down short).
Before i get excited and attack the existing plate, can anyone on here let me know if it is possible to remove the surround from the GT, with an indication of what carnage i will find behind it?
Ah I finally did this last year had been meaning to do it for years!
I'll post a photo later...
I'm not keen on the wedge plinth thing and am actually trying to find the part number online so I can list it on eBay.
It's in great condition.
Any takers here?!
It's on my 2001 147.
Cut down my plate to legal limit (11mm around the text)
It does hang over the edge a bit but it works and looks cool I reckon.
Adhesive pads and 2 screws.
