Hi All ,
Wonder if you could advise what to do next , My wife drove the car back home today and as she pulled up , water was leaking from the bottom of the engine , i think it was coolant as there was nothing left in the coolant tank , as it was full before , I cant see much when i look around under the bonnet. but i'm hoping it is just a perished pipe
( fingers crossed ) has anybody had a similar experince and what do i do next .
, Cheers ,
Paddy .
Fill it back up and run the car up. Don't forget to bleed the rad with the bleed nipple at the top left hand side of the rad if it got that low then air may have got in the system. See what happens.
Thanks chaps for your replys , water pump was only changed just under two years ago does that make a difference Dave ? Also if that was low ( the tank was at the correct level only a few days before ) would it push all the fluid out ? and leave nothing in the tank. Sorry for more questions just trying to narrow it down before i start giving cash away !! Many Thanks, Paddy.
Fill it up first and un airlock the system. That way you can assertain where the leak if any is coming from. Yes it will take all the water from the tank until its all gone and then just pump air round once its run out leaving you with air locks.
Once again many thanks chaps , Being new to doing these sort of things your help has been fantastic !! Joss can i fill the system with just water or does it need to be coolant ? also it is safe to drive to get it fixed if need be or is it a pick up from home job ? Cheers , Paddy .
fill with water till you find leak
if its a hose or radiator problem you probably can use car BUT if its waterpump ,i wouldnt drive it unless its straight to garage PUMP can let go and take your motor with it
Success , i have found it the leak it is near a "T" bar join down by the air filter , just need to get a replacement hose now , once many thanks to Joss and Dave for your help know where i can get cheap hose replacements from .lol .
