Hi there,
I've got a 2001 Y reg 156 1.8TS Sportback, it's a great car but I've noticed it uses quite a lot of oil. There isn't any blue smoke, no visible leaks around the engine (a tiny drip from the sump plug but nothing major (I'm getting this sorted next week with a new washer/seal)).
I think I read that these cars do like to drink the oil but how much is normal?
My non-scientific approach of checking the dipstick indicates that it's used about half a litre of oil in about 2 weeks.
So my questions are:
1. What is normal for oil consumption when there are no leaks or engine problems
2. Is there a low oil warning light on the dash which will prevent me from running dry if I forget to check the level and top up every few weeks?
Thanks
Ed
