Hi guys. Here is an update on my Alfa GT coupe issues.

Had the dreaded MCSF fualt two days after picking my car up. Local Alfa specialist said fault was both pre cat lambdas. These had been replaced recently and soldered into the engine loom. I have tried resetting the ecu & throttle reset. I have also installed a brand new bosch battery. Some people have had MCSF gremlins due to old battery. The fault is still there.

On searching older threads in this forum I came across a user called AVOCET who was suffering from very similar symptoms. I emailed him direct to pick his brain. He pointed me toward (the very simple) air leak possibility. On looking at my car I found a split in the ducting between the MAF and throttle body. I say split - it was almost ripped in two!!

I have temporarily taped it and have a new pipe on order (£47 inc VAT) for anyone interested. Alfa also have designed the pipe so it cant be repaired easily by using funny patterns and ribs.

I cannot begin to tell you how differently the car drives. It idles better now and I actually have experience a little torque steer which was never there.

To conclude:

Check your pipes for splits/cracking - even if cracked get it changed, especially for £47 quid!

Major thanks to AVOCET again. Basic rule - start simple!

Take care
