Hi everyone,

Just bought my first Alfa (156) last week (always had a love for Alfa's, so now my life feels fulfilled! haha). Anyway, the car is very clean, seems to run well and to be honest I couldnt be happier...except for one problem!

The central locking does not work. If the car is locked and you press the unlock button on the remote fob it sets the alarm off and you need to put the key into the ignition and turn it to the first mark to switch the alarm off.

When trying to lock the car firstly I need to lock the front passanger door with the key in the lock (holding it against the mechanism trying to disengage until it locks after this happens), next I need to push the buttons down on the rear door and then lock the drivers door with the key (this does not require holding it in the lock position until it engages/disengages/re-engages, like the front passengers door)

As you can imagine this proccess gets very tiresome, very quickly.

Can anyone help in suggesting what the problem may be before I take it to an auto-electrician and pay them to investigate it before actually fixing the problem?

Any help will be VERY much appreciated.

Despite this issue I have to admit....I have well and truely got the Alfa bug already, I cant imagine life without one now! (maybe less paranoia of alarm sounding perhaps just!)

Cheers!

Derry.
