Was wondering if anyone can help with a problem i've got. My bonnet will not fully close at the moment. It holds on the safety catch but won't solidly close in the fully down position.
I've serched the forum for advice and have checked that the handle in the cabin is not stuck in the open position. I've sprayed WD40 into every crevice, nook and cranny in the catch mechanism but this still doesn't work.
Without looking (and I haven't a 147 near me) I can't remmeber if the 147 catch is the same as the 156, but if it is, you'll probably find that as well as spraying WD40 you actually need to manually free off the locking portion of the catch to get it moving.
If you look at the catch theres one section that is pressed down by the bracket on the bonnet when it closes, and another (the one released by the cable) which should flick across to lock the first part down....most likely this has seized open, and will need manipulating back and forth a few times as well as lubricating to free it off.
Spray Silicon lubricant on both catches....wiggle both catches by their cables....respray again...then contrary to the " let it drop from 20cm ", give it a damned good push down from 20cm....worked for my 156.
take it off, give it a good soak and clean (did mine with turps substitute that I had lying around) and put it back on ...
