hey, so unfortunately I need to get new tyres for my 147 in order to pass the NCT (MOT). The NCT rules now state that tyres need to have the E-Mark, to say that they are european tested for roads, my tyres (Tracmax) where on the car when I bought it in Jan. This new rule is annoying as theres so much thread left on them!

I found a guy selling a 156 online and he had TI alloys, so I thought I'd make him an offer. I suggested doing a swap for mine (Dare ST with 80% tyres) However, he seems happy enough to swap directly for mine as he likes how my tyres are in good condition. His two rear tyres are at 50% and two front are new. However he said he's willing to give me cash for one of the rear tyres.

So basically the only cost to me is one rear tyre and I have a full set of TI alloys with new tyres

But then I asked him for tyre dimensions and he said they were 205-55-R16. Do TI wheels only come in 17" and 19" though? If these are replicas, is it still a good deal? I'm confused

Any help appreciated guys,
Cheers,

Hardly a "new" rule.
Tyres needed to be e-marked from July 1997 (as far as I can tell)...

Sounds like you have some dodgy non-EU spec shady-import tyres.

so you have not told the guy with the 156 that your tyres you want to swap are not road legal?? and he is willing to give you some cash also?

you sound like a conman to me. and you come on here for advice? passing the buck onto somebody else.

so if you got your house burgled would you go and burgle someone else?

He knows that they aren't e-marked as it was only fair to tell him. he said that he doesn't really care because he believes that they won't check for the e-mark in the test, even after I explained the reason for me wanting to swap. He believes that my alloys are more in line with the look he's going for so that's why he want to swap. However, this is totally besides the point. I was just asking what people thought about 16" TI alloys, and if they were definitely replicas and is it worth the downgrade in size.

I don't believe it to be fair to burgle his house as he seems like a nice guy. Furthermore, I don't see the relevance of this suggestion. I think I'll go for the swap, thanks for the help :p
