Hi,
last week end my alfa 147 stopped suddenly. The engine stopped like running out of fuel, even if the was fuel in the tank, just gone in reserve. The key sign come out on the dashboard.
I thought of the immobilizer but even using the spare key didn't fix the problem. Any idea of what could that be?
147 antennas are (in my experience) a single wire that's (generally) hanging loose in the fuse box. Aussie ones may be the same as the 156 coil though...
I've see one that's got a bare end though, so check yours and insulate it if need be...
If the car cut out whilst driving, it's unlikely to be purely an immobilizer fault. Do you also get the "Motor Control System Failure" on the central dash display?
Try checking the fuses and relays in the engine bay fusebox (located in front of the battery).
Which model 147 is it exactly?
Info for iainfm: the single wire you've seen dangling around the in-car fusebox of 147s is the aerial for the alarm/remote locking. The keycode aerial clips around the ignition barrel, same as 156.
Thanks for everyone reply, the mechanic/ electro specialist went through the check of the electronics and 200 AUS dollars later he guessed is a failure in the tank cage. I haven't fixed it yet and I am waiting for the Alfa to go in reserve to see if it fails again. The fixing of the tank cage is going to cost around 400 AUS $. Auch!
If the immobilizaer light is still showing I would check the Injection relay in front of the battery. This caused the exact same problem for me with my 156, cut out, would not restart, code light on.
