Hi gang
The GT (diesel) has clocked up 77k and was having the occasional stutter and has been sounding quite rough on idle from a cold start.
Decided it was time for a poke about in the EGR valve. The MAF was replaced about a year ago so figured no probs there. Bit of a bugger to get it off the inlet manifold (i think thats what its attached to). There was a fair bit of soot in the valve and the entrance to the manifold bit, which can't be good for the general running of the car. Drilled a hole in the back of the EGR valve to tap the solenoid out for inspection, but even with some force, i couldn't get it out. The plunger thingy seemed to be working ok and i sprayed in plenty of WD40 for lubrication, but do you think its a problem that i couldn't get the solenoid out??????
Did that ecu/throttle reset process too. Went for a spin and she feels much better and sounds better on idle -from a cold start. Quite pleased with myself cus i'm no mechanic!
