Afternoon all,

Just after a bit of advice really.

I bought my first Alfa in October 2009 - A 147 JTD Multijet 16v 150BHP now at about 58k miles.

The engine management light came on about a week ago and I have not noticed any change in performance although generally I do sometimes think it should be a bit quicker. It is doing around 34mpg running around and about 42 on a run - I've been told it could be the lambda sensors that have triggered the light to come on - How many are there, which ones need replacing and how much are they?

Also I don't think it has had a cambelt change yet - It 60k miles about the right time to change? How much is this?

I'm after a spare supersport alloy wheel as well as a spacesaver if anyone can help?

Thanks,
James

Welcome to AO bud!

First things first the MSCF (motor control system failure) light can come on for a variety of reasons but as you say that there is no difference in power really then go with the lambda first. Your best bet would be to go get it diagnosed as you may end up changing parts for no reason as other reasons for the light coming on are injector failing,MAF sensor, crankshaft sensor and a whole host of others.

Alfa state that the JTD is every 72K or 5 years. Whichever comes first. However there are well known problems with the waterpumps breaking up between 50-60K on the 16v engines (read the sticky thread at the top of the 147-156 section) so now would be a good yime to change it. This is the general consensus on here. Cost for a belt change is upward of £400 but you need to get everything done, Idler and tensioner as these too can fail if not changed so prob cost a bit more really with parts.
