WHY alter a good car?? dont you think alfa spent more developing the car to run as they made it than any aftermarket firm. if your going round le man,s then stiff suspension will be needed, but driving round our lovley pot hole free roads will leave you glad to end your journey, i have put 2 cars back to standed suspension for people as they got fed up being bounced about, Lastly if the suspension isnt set up propley( 4 WHEEL LAZER WITH CASTER AND CAMBER ANGLES) THE CAR WILL WEAR OUT TYRES FAST AND DRIVE LIKE A PIG. if you still go for the low boy racer look make sure you find a specialest who can set the car up propley before you fit anything, and not any garage with tracking gear has to be lazer 4 wheel caster camber, i live in norfolk (big area) and only 1 garage has the gear and know how to use it. and keep all removed parts just in case you decide to change it back. hope this helps and sorry for going on, Ian
You dont need anything special to setup the 156 suspension as it only has toe adjustment for front and rear.
If you only lower the car about 30mm then there should be now issues with tyre wear, I've had Micheline PS2 on my 156 since May 2007 and the tread wear is extremely even
The one thing Alfa got VERY wrong was the dampers. Uprating the suspension is one for the rest things you can do to transform the handling but not with that kit. Slightly more expensive is the Eibach pro springs along with Koni FSD dampers.
As a sign of quality, look at the image in the OPs link, the r/h rear shock (2nd from right) is knackered. Shown by its failure to reach full extension.
Guess it's time to save up for the FSD/Eibach set up. Oh and a response to Ilazenby, the fact is i find the original set up way to soft for my liking. The standard set up on the 156 is way over sprung for my taste, if you like it the way it is then i'm happy for you but leave off the flaming yeah?
Good choice, there is only one way to improve on the Eibach/FSD combo for normal road use and that is to add the Eibach ARB = perfect!
