Picked the car up yesterday - I'm noticing a few minor things now.
First is a knocking when going around smallish roundabouts at about 25mph (i.e not as tight as a mini-roundabout) - seems to come from under the centre of the car - towards the rear. I'm assuming it's the exhaust/mounts. Likely to be anything else?
take it back were you got it,could be a few things making the noise, stick with alfa oil or noisy cams will not be to far away, and the vairator on my 156 2L dont like other stuff. and dont be tempted to try cheap directional tyres, i did took em off after two weeks couldnt stand the noise,it was that bad i changed the wheel bearings, then a nice chap at auto lusso said put some bridgestones on, and brill car drives great, hope this helps,Ian
Solved it - had the wheel off on Sunday and noticed one of the balance weights had a little knick in it. Put the wheel back on and realised that, with 15in wheels, the clearance between the wheel rim and the suspension/hub upright (and the brackets that hold the ABS/brake wear cables) is paper thin. In fact with the wheel nuts only hand tight I could rock the wheel enough to catch on the upright. Attacked the edge/corner of the weight with a file (it was one of the thickest weights I've seen) and pushed the brackets back by about 1mm. All fine since.
The wheel has no noticeable movement/end float, but there must have been just enough for a certain radius of right hand corner to push the top over just that little bit.
i had exactly the same thing when I took my car to a new garage for tyres. Also on the 15in wheels. I just took it back and got them to rebalance the wheels.
