Hi guys any help on this would be great...

4hrs ago i purchased my very first Alfa...a 1999 156 2.5 V6 at quite a good price. The guy said it may have a MAF problem ??? On the 50 mile drive home it coughed n farted all the way with severe loss of power...struggled to reach 60mph....sometimes even emitting a pop now and then from the tailpipe. I have absolutely no idea where a throttle body is located what it looks like and to even think i know wtf a MAF looks like is an understatement. I have been on ebay and they have a few listed but most have part numbers on em and iv no idea where to start. Iv even read on here that Vauxhall have maf sensors which work on alfas but are half the cost....can anyone help ???????

check all your clips from air filter box front right side of car to the top rubber hose on top of engine are tight also in this line of air pipes there is a hose about 6 inches long which corrigated this perishes and your engine gets to much air causing misfires also check condition of air filter
let me know how you get on

The MAF is situated just on top of the air filter box. It's a continuation of the air intake but there is an electrical connecting plug on the back of the black pipe.
To test the MAF, just unplug the connector from the tube just above the air filter box and see if it performs better.
To unplug the connector, you need to push the little flap on it whilst pulling it gently.

Does that last bit sound filthy or have I just got a dirty mind?
