GT - Nearly New Car Requires Bulkhead Welds

Hi,

I would like people's opinion on how you would feel if a little creaking noise at the front of the car requires welding on the bulkhead. The creaking noise appear when going around corners or turning the steering wheel.

Car is a one a half years old and so under warranty. I never heard of a new car requiring welding and obviously concerned that this seems excess to repair a creaking noise. Does it imply the car was unsafe? The whole dashboard has been removed and the car is with a body shop.

Garage has been helpful, but I'm not convinced I'm getting all the facts. Not sure if they are just trying to get warranty work out of Alfa UK, or whether this is a big issue that was dangerous?

I have owned the car since new, so there is no collision damage.

I've never heard of anything like this.

My GT is of a similar age and the mileage is just past 12k. I've also owned it from new.

Seeing as mine is a dog, I'd be interested to know exactly where the welds are going so I can check mine. I have endless noises and creaks (latest is the rear brakes sticking) so very interest to see how this all pans out.

Rear hatch welds are / were a problem but never heard of this up front:confused:

Most GT's creak like a haunted house so perhaps get the AA take a look at it before letting anyone torch your car!!!

Sounds early for upper wishbone, early 156,s had a recall with sticky insulation between the screen and dash which caused a loud cracking noise requiring dash removal and cutting back of the insulation. worth looking at if the dash is out. but like quotes above doesn,t sound right.
