after having trashed my car the other day (the after feel is always one of regret after all the consequences you get) i noticed two strange sounds every time i turn to the left. one that sounds like a whistle (as if the pads were touching the disks) and one of a metal peice vibrating somewhere in the front. and you know how when you take it to the mechanic the sound disappears at the moment he test drives it ? :p well it happened with me.
and now i dnt knw wht to do and i really wana solve it before it gets worse.
any idea?

Hi, i think these cars are designed to use high revs as the power comes on song between 3000 and 6000rpm, as long as oil is correct grade and less than 12months old should be ok.
I change my oil and filter every 6 months (millers xss 10w/ 40) so i feel confident using the cars full performance.
After a long hard run my car sometimes has a unusual smell and faint top end faint tapping, still drives like new and uses no oil between changes, been the same the last 4 years of my ownership.
Service is key as on any performance car.

This applies to my sportwagon which is a 2.0 ltr twinspark, maybe needs an egg cup of oil every 6 months, just luck i guess after reading all the horrors on this forum, this shows not all alfa twinsparks are lemons.
Can't comment on my gtv yet as i have only owned it for a couple of months

Hi, my sportwagon is nearly 10 years old and is immaculate in and out and no rust underneath ie floor, but just in case i undersealed the whole floor and under the arch liners when i first bought it 4 years ago.
This car has been so reliable and is still like new outside ie no dings or scratches, metallic red paint is almost like new, don't know if previous lady owner who owned it from new ever had it resprayed but there is no evidence anywhere of overspray so i guess its original.
The car has covered 54,000 miles almost 28,000 under my ownership, i keep the car garaged when not in use and don't plan on selling anytime soon. I use this car everyday and always get positive comments from customers who can't believe the condition for its age, all of them like alfas always commenting on the lines and teledial alloys.
The gtv is for weekends only and will probably only cover 1000 miles a year.
