GT Wiper Arm Damage

Just noticed the damage in the attached pictures. Seems the wiper arm has been hitting the bonnet and has taken all the pain off in the effected area. Has anyone come across this before?
I bought the car second hand so not sure if the wiper arm is oem or aftermarket. I presume it's an oem wiper as the car is only a year old. Would this be fixed under warranty if I was to bring it into the dealers?

Pics attached. (I think)

It looks like the wiper has been incorrectly set (too high) and thus when the motor spins it is bringing the arm into contact with the paint.

I think you should have a good case of arguing that the arm was incorrectly positioned from new and thus caused the damage. Are the blades the standard blades? with the little Alfa Romeo script on it, or the more modern aero wipes? (I don't think the aero's have Alfa printed on them).

My reason for asking - makes it easier to prove that the blades are originals and thus not changed, especially if they look weathered. Having said that, there is often zero reason for removing the arms from the spindels whilst doing a blade change, the blades should just snap in/out.

Do you have any invoices with the car? I am wondering if there was some work in that area, thus requiring the arms to be removed (and then later incorrectly set)

Mine went in to have a new wiper 'rack' fitted under warranty for the exact same thing last week. It seemed to start after the bad weather earlier this year - and the dealer couldn't adjust it hence the new part - luckily my bonnet wasn't fouled just the lower arm of the wiper. They should change it no probs!

Had exactly the same problem with my 147 I bought last year and turned out to be the wiper motor linkeage had broken, hence the wiper arm was moving out on the upward stroke and catching the bonnet lip. It had obvioulsy been doing it for a while as I had the same gouge in the wiper arm and bare metal on the bonnet. Worth checking the wiper linkeage to see if there is a lot of movement in it - in which case best to replace, but if car only a year old this should be covered under warranty??

All new style flat type wiper Alfa's seem to do this and it's fixable with a new rack.

They are Bosch parts and the bearings & bushings fail, as I understand it:(

Need to get my new Brera looked at:mad:

It's the new type blades on it, the flat ones with no alfa logo. Thats why I'm in two minds about whether they're oem parts or replacements.
I don't have any inoices for any work that was done on it before but I doubt there was anything done to it. It was owned previously by a former Miss Ireland (who was given the car for a year by Alfa Irelend as far as I know) and there was only 12000km on the clock. Don't think she would have been bothered to get anything fixed.
Need to drop into the dealer to get a part to stop the rear parcel shelf from rattling so I'll get them to check it out while i'm in there.
Dealers can check on their database whether any other dealer has done work on the car can't they?

Went into the dealers about this on Friday. There's nothing wrong with the wiper arm apparantly. We checked out a brand new GT, 159 and a spider in the showroom as well as a 159 parked outside. Every single one of them had the same problem. All 4 had a piece ground out of the arm and the 2 159s had the paint worn off as well.

Looks like it's a design problem with all the new alfas rather than something being wrong with mine :(
