Difficulty getting standard tyres

Anyone else finding problems getting 185/65 VR15 standard tyres for a 156 1.8TS?
I have the 8 hole pepperpot alloys - 15 x 6-1/2 J.

Any thoughts on putting 205/60 VR15 (which are easier to source) on these alloys in terms of handling, fuel consumption and clearance on the suspension/brake pipes?

Only 1 Dunlop Fast Response in the country apparently, no Avons, choice seems to be limited Firestone TZ300 or Pirelli P6000 - this is ACTUAL stock rather than what's on websites.

I would go with the 205/60 R15 as wide tyres look better. :p

I doubt you could tell much difference from a driving perspective though. Just make sure you put the new tyres on the back

Just looked on Blackcircles ... guess you have .. they only list 7 tyres in the 185/65/15 size, but 28 in the 205/60/15 ... mytyres had 10 and 71 ... although I wouldn't put some of those on a wheel barrow let alone a 156!

I wasn't impressed with the Fast Response that came on our Clio .. moved to the Sport 01's and they were much better.

Mytyres also have 10 different tyres in that size. They are not that expensive either TBH.

They have Toyo's, Goodyears etc.

Well, I've just run in to a bit of a problem. All 4 tyres on my V6 need replacing before an MOT next week and my local independent supplier is having difficulty sourcing any 205/60/15/W. So far he thinks he can get 4 Pirelli's or 4 Semperit by Tuesday. Anybody heard of/used Semperit tyres?

Right now it looks like I might be off the road because I can't get any tyres(only realised last night that the MOT was due within the next week!)

I think Semperit are owned by Continental.

They will be ok, but probably not as good as the Conti's themselves.

Have you tried Mytyres, blackcircles, event tyres, camskill etc? They will be able to supply many more brands.

I've got Pirelli Dragon 205/60x15 on one of my V6 and they are probably one of the poorest tyres I've ever had on a car (they were on the car when I bought it) - noisy, hard, lacking any grip or feedback :(

From Pirelli's website "DragonTM is a true sports tyre, born through Pirelli's immense technological experience in the field of high performance" :cheese:
