If it's like the 147, which it probably is, remove the hand brake lever gaiter & you'll see a hexagon nut on the underside of the lever-turn that clockwise to tighten the cable.
Cable adjustment should, however, only very rarely be needed - it's more likely that the problem lies in the rear calipers.
There is a cable for each rear brake, the 2 handbrake cables come from the calipers, meet in a pivot point under the car and then one cable comes up to the handbrake. As said above you can adjust by turning the nut next to the gear lever but probably worth to check that one of the cables is not damaged and only one brake is being used by the handbrake.
Good point thanks, seems to be a squeeling at low speeds from back brakes which dissapears undeer breaking.
My handbrake seems to have an issue with clicking into position if that makes sense. I pull it up and the handbrake button doesnt seem to catch ,leavign the handbrake in a secure postion...any of that make sense? Cheers
That does suggest a caliper problem. It's very likely that the pins the caliper slides on are seized - that's the first thing I'd look at.

It does make sense. How far is the lever moving up? If it's not moving very far it may not be reaching the first tooth on the ratchet, another possible indication of a seized caliper.
ok thank you mate, i will check this between work!!!
