Picking a lovely 1.8 TS with standard factory head unit on Monday - what are the options for bluetooth/aux in?

The Dension Gateway Lite looks pretty good for USB/IPod input. Difficult to think of a better value solution that will fully integrate with the heada unit/controls etc.

What about phone/bluetooth?

is it usb or ipod you want to connect if its usb then take a look at the blaupunkt bluetooth adaptor comes with a usb socket and once you upgrade the firm ware works real well. It will connect straight to the factory head unit aswell I think but plenty of stuff on the ice pages about installing 1

Thanks - does look good - I was pondering a USB hard drive do that would do the job (not sure how good the head unit would be navigating 40GB of files.

Off the ICE section to read more.:D

I bought an XCarLink (Fiat/Alfa Romeo iPod Interface*::*FIAT/ALFA ROMEO*::*XCarLink) and am very happy with it, works perfectly. I chose the iPod version - and bought a 120GB iPod to suit. The ability to navigate either by playlists or by tracks directly on the iPod is very good. There are many nice touches, such as the way the steering-wheel mute button pauses the iPod.

Xcarlink any good for 02 156?

Hey Alex!

From here in SA I hope you enjoyed the World Cup;)

I'm thinking about ordering the Xcarlink for my 2002 Sport Wagon down here in SA. I've read a few bad reviews about sound quality etc. but it seems a good deal.

How's yours worked out? It worth having a go? Dension seems a better product and I can get support here in SA but it locks the screen when plugged in and there is no way on the ones that work with 156 that you can use it as a handsfree too, which you can with the X.

What do you think?

Thanks a mil!

Hey Alex,

Thanks for reply!

Just got a call from customs to say my Xlink's at the airport so I should have it in soon. Hold thumbs it all works, I've read mixed reviews! I've also ordered the blue tooth unit so hopefully I'll be able to make calls. Seems it gets sticky then though as it wants to default to streaming music via bluetooth which is only playlist mode I think...

Noticed you're in Kiwi land, not up with the Poms. Well done on an awesome WC, the only unbeaten team...nice. Plus the AB's played a cracker on Saturday so if your cricket team will come back to the party then things will be all good down there...

My girlfriend and I are saving like hell (well, except for buying the X;)) to make it to your World Cup. Can't wait.

Happy Friday.
James
