I have an oil leak from the camshaft seal and am going to replace it. While im there i will change the cambelt, I have been on Euro car parts site and there are 2 belts which both say they fit but 1 has 163 teeth the other has 166? When I rang them they said I will need to find out how many I have then they know which belt to supply. How do I find out how many teeth i need? I thought they would be able to tell from my reg but obviously not!
Can anyone point me in the right direction on how i find out (i cant see anything written on the belt itself)
My Reg is X819 CEX and chasis number is ZAR932000*01222380 if this helps anyone.
Thanks well as far as i have been told via Lyles (01912730700) its 166 teeth. They were very helpful over the phone by the way if anybody was thinking of using them.
Whats eper then? sounds good whatever it is is it a website or some software you buy?
Afla forum comes up trumps again Im so pleased i have found this place
Thanks all
I presume you know it also needs the tensioner and idler changing as well as the belt, as many belt failures are caused by these failing, and that you have the correct cam locks to set the timing correctly
The belt and tensioners etc were changed about 9k ago but because the oil is leaking onto the belt im told its best to change that too as the oil can affect the condition of the belt. I presume the tensioners etc will be ok??
Old thread I know but I am quite frustrated and the person I buying the part from is not that helpful. My vehcile details are engine number 2946394 Chassis # ZAR93700005045783 - how can I tell if I need the 138 teeth or 168 teeth cambelt?:furious:
