hello people bought an alfa 156 bout a month ago renewed power steering pump all good. Now i have a banging noise coming from the suspension had a look and think it is the top wishbones they seem to have a bit of play, are these a common thing to go on 156s?struts and springs are in good order.
tops and drop link - v easy to change. plenty of procedures and people that have done them. Did mine at the weekend before my coffee got cold.. well nearly.
er.. yes.. hence.. 'Did mine at the weekend' comment
My tops caused a knock, and bottoms a squeak so normally you go through everything changing them . there is no hard fast rule. Generally if you steer sitting still and get squeaks, thats the bottom ball joints. I had alot of play in the tops so knocked over bumps. But as everyone says, if you do anything, do all of it. (i.e. might aswell do the drop links unless they are brand new!)
put in a search at the top of page (search) and just put in wishbones. good luck...
