ABS, VDC and EBD System Failures

These sprang to life on the message display recently as I was driving and now come on every start shortly after moving off, accompanied by 2 double beeps. No more beeps occur but the messages cycle telling me to stop and Go to Dealer

I recently (less than 500mile previous) had the car serviced by an independent and he fitted my new front discs and pads.

He has now used a Snap-On analyser which gives a fault code : C1276 Valve Relay : associated with the ABS.

2002 156 2.4 JTD 10v (150)

Any ideas as to the implications and likely cost?

Nobody got a take on this?

I'm advised elswhere that it may be low battery voltage, which needs to be between 12.6v and 12.8v without the engine running. Seems a high requirement to me. Mine is 12.51v

Alternatively it may be a dodgy electrical connection on the ABS pump/modulator unit. If clean-up of these does not clear the problem then a replacement is a grand +

But then I had a search round and came up with this:

Alfa 156

Send mine off for a rebuild for 100 notes + the dreaded. That's a bit better

No separate ABS relays on a 156 as far as I know.
Try my personal favourite for the "valve relay error"; the fusible link for the ABS, located on top of the battery, near the positive terminal under the black lift-up cover (if that's still attached). It's normally red (50A, earlier cars) or yellow(60A, later cars). Prise the little plastic shroud apart and examine the fuse; they tend to corrode or develop a fatigue fracture.

Foxtrot, Smaky - you guys with the technical knowledge are why I love and frequent this forum, when I have a problem.

Thank you very much. Sorted

On the basis taught me many years ago to look for the simplest solution first, I went to the 60A ABS fuse, and sure enough it was fractured. £2.00 for a new one from the local Fiat dealer and it is fixed. Phew!

The fuse was possibly fractured because not long ago I undid its fastenings to add a power supply for my caravan. Tightening the nuts may have added more strain.

Thanks again for the advices :)

In my case, the issue was also a loose contact on one of the wires in the black box on positive pole of the battery, since there is really dubious engineering pattern of the entire solution of those wires connection (a square nut, which tightens bolt holding the wire, was not correctly in place and the wire was loose)
